Wonder Women Tech 2019 DC Global Summit Kicks Off with Mindful Meditation Led by Ananda Leeke

This year’s Wonder Women Tech DC Global Summit (#WWT2019) kicked off with a 10-minute mindfulness meditation led by yours truly on May 1st at the Embassy of France. The meditation encouraged attendees to make their breath their BFF as they settled in and set an intention for how they wanted to show up at the conference. Watch the video below to get a taste of what my meditation was all about.

Throughout the day, I led five-minute mindful moments that invited attendees to explore what it feels like to belong to their bodies and the #WWT2019 community; to reflect on their Summit takeaways and aha moments; and to give thanks for all they are and have received during the Summit.

The Summit featured dynamic speakers who inspired and encouraged women to show up fully as themselves, pursue their dreams in tech, ask for support, and reach back to help other women. My soul sistalove Karen Alston, founder of the Spectrum Circle, served as the afternoon Mistress of Ceremonies. She did a phenomenal job!

My mentee Alicia Marshall, a graduating senior majoring in engineering at the University of the District of Columbia, attended the conference and networked like a rockstar!

Special thanks to Wonder Women Tech Summit founder Lisa Mae Brunson and the #WWT2019 team, sponsors, speakers, and attendees for making this year’s conference a success!

Embrace & Learn How to Practice Mindful Self-Care with Ananda Leeke During RECHARGE! Monthly Workshops (May-Dec 2019)

What do you think about when you hear the word wellness?

I think about MINDFUL SELF-CARE. Mindful self-care helps me invest in myself. It offers me space and time to reflect, release, and recharge. It creates a more resilient me.

My mindful self-care happens in four parts.

  • Part one happens when I slow down and choose to pay attention by listening and seeing what’s happening and NOT happening in my spirit, heart, mind, body, and life.
  • Part two occurs when I set an intention, identify practices, create a plan on how and when to use the practices, and seek support and accountability.
  • Part three is essential because it reminds me to give myself loving kindness, compassion, patience, forgiveness, and nonjudgment for those moments when I don’t practice mindful self-care.
  • Part four is all about celebrating my small, medium, and big wins.

GIFT FOR YOU: Check out my #ThrivingMindfully Podcast episode on creating a mindful self-care toolkit. May it inspire you to honor all parts of yourself and life!
