Ananda’s Great News: Raised $547 for Kickstarter.com Fundraiser for Sisterhood the Blog Book Project

My Kickstarter.com fundraiser for my Sisterhood the Blog book project is almost a month old.  To date, I have raised $547 with the support of 17 donors and many people who have used Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Tumblr, web sites, blogs, and email to share information about my efforts.

Calling All Women in Social Media! Join Ananda’s 10/13 Twitter Launch of #STB10 #DigitalSisterhood Wednesdays.

On the last day of Blogalicious 2010, I recorded a video about my 10/13 Twitter launch of #STB10 #DigitalSisterhood Wednesdays. Click on the link to watch the video: http://vimeo.com/15741180.
#STB10 #DigitalSisterhood Wednesdays will give women in social media a weekly opportunity to build and strengthen their communities. Each week women will be encouraged to celebrate and promote their digital sisters by using the #FF (Friday Follow) format to list their digital sisters’ Twitter IDs. Women will also be encouraged to tweet about their digital sisters’ businesses, wisdom, creativity, blogs, Facebook pages, causes, videos, web sites, etc.

#STB10 is a hashtag that refers to Sisterhood the Blog 2010. I developed it to track my Twitter conversations, DC-based focus groups, and online radio shows about her Sisterhood the Blog book project. Sisterhood the Blog is a memoir about my Internet experiences from 1986 to 2011. I include how women on the Internet have influenced and inspired my life. I am using the information collected on Twitter as research for my book project. Click here to learn about the book project and Kickstarter fundraiser: kck.st/avHVlu.

Remember to use the #STB10 and #DigitalSisterhood hashtags on October 13 and every Wednesday thereafter.

Follow me on Twitter to track all of the great #STB10 #DigitalSisterhood sharing on Wednesdays: http://twitter.com/anandaleeke.

Thank you for your support!

Join Ananda on 10/6 @9pm EST for Sisterhood the Blog #STB10 Twitter Chat on Digital Sisterhood

Calling all women in social media!  Join me for my first Sisterhood the Blog Twitter chat about digital sisterhood on October 6 at 9:00 pm EST. To access the chat log onto Twitter and use the #STB10 hashtag.  During the chat, we will discuss our personal definitions of sisterhood, digital sisterhood connections – how/why we create and sustain them, and lessons learned from our digital sisterhood connections.

Our Twitter chat stream will be used as research for my book project Sisterhood the Blog: Soundbytes from the 21st Century Women’s Online Revolution (December 2011 – click here to donate to my Kickstarter.com fundraiser for my book project. TY in advance for your support!).

You can find me on Twitter at http://twitter.com/anandaleeke.  Tweet with you on the 6th.

Ananda hosts Sisterhood the Blog Radio’s Women in Social Media Series in June

Logo by Ananda Leeke

In late May, I launched the Women in Social Media series on Sisterhood the Blog Radio with Lynne D. Johnson, Senior Vice President of Social Media for the Advertising Research Foundation. I have admired Lynne for many years (loved her blog when she was at Fast Company, one of the first tech magazines I started reading in the late 90s) and read her blog like it is a religion! She is truly one of my digital diva sheroes! Check out Lynne’s interview with another one of my fav social media sheroes Lena West.

On June 1, I spoke with Sonya Steele, a lawyer turned LA-based screenwriter, about her new web TV show “Celeste Bright.” See video trailer below. It is INCROYABLE (incredible as the French say!).  It launches later this month.

I spoke with my new favorite social media author Deanna Zandt, a media technologist, about her new book Share This! How You Will Change the World with Social Networking on June 6.  Deanna and I had a chance to meet in person at Open City on June 7 while she was in DC for a book reading and conference.  She is amazing.  See our photo below.  I will be writing a book review about Share This! later this month on my DC Social Media Examiner column.

FYI – You can listen to my interviews with Lynne, Sonya, and Deanna, by clicking here and looking for their audio recordings in the section called “Past Episodes.”

Be sure to tune into the Women in Social Media interview series on  June 10 at 8 pm EST (Pam Perry), June 14  at 9 pm EST (Johanna Vondeling), June 15 at 8:30 pm EST (Katherine Lewis), June 17 at 8 pm EST (Kety Esquivel), and June 22 at 8 pm EST (Shonali Burke). These are powerful ladies with passion and positive energy!!!! They rock!

NOTE: I am using my Sisterhood the Blog Radio and BAP Living Radio interviews as research for my next book Sisterhood the Blog: Soundbytes from the 21st Century Women’s Online Revolution (December 2011).

Great Moments from the Weekend: Ananda’s interview with Bianca Alexander of Conscious Living TV

Bianca Alexander

Greeting All,

Yesterday, I spent time with my sistalove Bianca Alexander.  We met for afternoon tea and lunch at Sala Thai on U Street in DC. Thanks to the sunny weather we were able to sit outside and enjoy tasty Thai cuisine.

FYI – Bianca is a lawyer turned healthy living advocate who serves as co-CEO and host of Conscious Living TV, a green living news magazine show.  Bianca also hosts The Soul of Green, a TV program that features untold stories about people of color in the green and environmental justice movements.  In addition, she is a broadcast journalism fellow of University of Southern California’s Annenberg School of Communications and an ethnic media fellow of the Association of Health Journalists.  Bianca is also a yoga teacher and Reiki Master practitioner.  For more information, visit www.biancaalexander.com.

Check out my interview with Bianca on U Street in northwest DC (recorded on March 7) below.

I consider Bianca one of my digital diva sheroes.  Digital diva sheroes are women who use the Internet to do great work online and offline.  They are also women who will be featured in my next book Sisterhood, the Blog: Soundbytes from the 21st Century Women’s Online Revolution.

Who are your digital diva or green living sheroes?

Enjoy your day and week!

Peace, Creativity, Compassion, and Green Living Gratitude,

Ananda
