Happy Friday!

My Next Chapter Book Blogging Group is reading Chapter 7 of The Joy Diet by Martha Beck this week. The theme is play. Click here to see what my fellow Next Chapter bloggers are experiencing: http://tnc-thejoydiet.blogspot.com/2009/11/joy-diet-play.html.  I am still reading the play chapter.  So far I have been exploring what play means in the collages I made for Art Every Day Month (http://creativeeveryday.com/art-every-day-month).  Art Every Day Month is an annual creative challenge created by Leah Piken Kolidas (held in November like National Novel Writing Month).

Today I discovered that play means being BOLD. Here’s my definition of BOLD.

B stands for BE who you are.

O stands for OWN who you are.

L stands for LOVE who you are.

D stands for DECIDE to do these things every day!

It takes boldness to add PLAY to my daily life because it is so easy to get caught up in my to do lists.

What does play mean to you?

Enjoy your weekend!

Art Every Day Month Post – Celebrating the Dream: Michelle O 2009

Happy Thursday!

I am still celebrating the Obama election anniverary today. I posted a collage that celebrates First Lady Michelle Obama a/k/a FLOTUS. She is an amazing woman. For me, Michelle is an icon of authenticity. She inspires me to continue taking better care of myself. I love her brilliance, boldness, and beauty. She is committed to community service too. Her fashion style is fabulous. In short, Michelle O is a woman who owns her spirit, heart, mind, body, and life.

What do you think about Michelle O?

Who inspires you?

Happy Wednesday!

Today I am celebrating the first anniversary of President Obama’s election with a collage that I made early this morning. It includes a statement at the bottom: pave a new road for us. This statement comes from indie music artist Eric Roberson’s Music Fan First CD. “Pave A New Road” is a song included on this amazing CD. Check out the video below.  Enjoy!

Happy Art Every Day!  Happy Tuesday!

Yesterday I read a blog post by my creative sistalove Jenn Lee of Life Unfolds blog: www.lifeunfoldsblog.com/2009/11/01/art-every-day-month-2009-begins.  Jenn talked about purchasing a journal for her Art Every Day Month experience.  I liked her idea.  So I purchased a scratch pad from CVS and decorated the cover so that it reflected my personal touch.   My decorating turned into a boho chic collage that I call “Be Shakti.”  Check it out! Let me know what you think.

While I was in CVS, I also purchased crayons and magic markers.  I keep all of my Art Every Day Month supplies in my purse so I can have a creative play moment at any point during my day!  Many thanks to Jenn for the great idea!

Check out what my fellow Art Every Day Month participants created today: http://creativeeveryday.com/creativeeveryday/2009/11/art-every-day-month-november-3rd.html.   Enjoy!

Make art every day!

Happy Art Every Day Month!

My blogging sistalove Leah Piken Kolidas created Art Every Day Month  http://creativeeveryday.com/creativeeveryday/2009/11/art-every-day-month-november-1st.html) as a November art challenge seven years ago.  Read Leah’s description of Art Every Day Month below.

“I started this project seven years ago as a challenge to myself to create some art every day for one month and post it on my blog. I was inspired by Nanowrimo and wanted to do something similar with art, and thus Art Every Day Month (AEDM) was born. Posting art on my blog every day helped to keep me accountable and it was fun to share my creations.”

I participated in AEDM last year and had so much fun creating and posting my artwork.  The process really grounded me during my writing process for my new book, That Which Awakens Me: A Creative Woman’s Poetic Memoir of Self-Discovery.  This year, I am back to play and keep myself grounded during my online book party events and daily living.  Today I made a fun collage and created a video to share with you.  See below.  Enjoy!
