New Beginnings at Law Students in Court

image

My August is filled with new beginnings. This week, I started working as the Digital Communications Director of Law Students in Court  (LSIC).

LSIC is a nonprofit legal services organization that inspires and teaches the next generation of social justice attorneys while providing free, high quality legal representation to low-income residents in Washington, DC. Click here to learn more about LISC’s legacy of service. It started almost 50 years ago in 1969. LIKE us on Facebook.

Working at LSIC feels like home because I participated in the program when I was a third-year law student at Howard University School of Law. In this new position, I am marrying my passions for creative expression, digital media, law, and service that improves and inspires people’s lives in my hometown. Stay tuned for more news about my adventures in the coming weeks.

#DigitalSisterhood Wednesday Shout Out: Women in Tech Campaign’s #TechIsMore Event

image

Happy#DigitalSisterhood Wednesday!

August is off to a great start in my world. On Monday, I participated in the Women in Tech Campaign’s #TechIsMore digital event. It was truly a #DigitalSisterhood experience that included sitting in a room surrounded by dynamic Digital Sisters in real time and via Google Hangout, Periscope, and Twitter. We had a double chocolate delicious discussion about women in tech issues including diversity, inclusion, challenges, and success strategies. Click on link below to read the #TechisMore Storify blog recap prepared by Women in Tech Campaign founder Emily Rasowsky.

#FierceLiving Friday: My Dream of Becoming A Designer Happened Today!

Happy #FierceLiving Friday!

Guess what happened today? I officially realized my #FierceLivingat50 dream of becoming a designer when I wore my “Karma: One of Love’s Troubadours” scarf for the first time during my client meeting at Love ‘n’ Faith Cafe on 14th Street, NW, in DC.

image

In May, I partnered with VIDA to create a collection of four scarves that use artwork from my three books.

image

The “Karma” scarf I am wearing in the photos above incorporates my painting that appears on the cover of my yoga-inspired novel, Love’s Troubadours – Karma: Book One (available on Amazon.com). It celebrates a woman’s self-discovery journey and represents the main character in my novel.
